We get it. You're excited but this whole thing has you with more questions than answers right now. That's ok! While we confirm some things on our end, here's a bunch of high-level information that might help you determine if Create Upstate ADK is a good fit for your 2020 plans:

Should I attend?

Most likely! Create Upstate ADK is best suited for in-house and agency design teams. If you're a part of one of those, this is your jam. If you lead such a team, this is especially your jam. Organizations that send multiple team members are going to get a ton out of this event.

What if I run solo? While our specific pursuit is supporting teams, don't let that rule you out. If you could use a shot in the arm from the creative community, or you want to lend your experience working with teams, we'd love to have you.

Do I have to live in Upstate NY? Nope. We always enjoy hosting out-of-state and decidedly Downstate attendees. This may be your best chance to see what our community is all about—not to mention peak Fall in the Adirondacks!

A retreat-style event?

Yep! We're beyond excited for this. While the word "retreat" probably has you thinking of trust falls and awkward team-building exercises, we promise you won't find those at Create Upstate ADK. Rather, we're creating an environment where we can make purposeful community connections and have real discussions with meaningful takeaways. This is a shift from the 300+ attendee, speaker-driven events we've held in the past, though we feel it will have a substantial impact on the careers of the 60 attendees joining us (including you!)

What happened to the traditional version of CU?

While we've tweaked the experience from year to year, Create Upstate ADK represents our biggest shift in format, location, and goals. The more conventional conference format you're used to from CU has led us here—and while we see this as an important evolution of the event, we'll have to wait and see if another large-scale CU is in the cards.

What's included, and how much will it cost?

Your event pass includes two nights at the amazing Whiteface Lodge, located in Lake Placid, NY. All your meals will be included as well, right down to the last s'more. And while we're still refining the schedule, you can safely expect workshops, fireside chats, panel discussions, and some all-terrain activities. We're banking on this being a game-changer for everyone.

As for cost, we're actively seeking sponsors to help make our ambitious plans as affordable for your companies as possible. For now, you might be able to ballpark it, given what's included.

How can my company sponsor?

We've made it super easy to support CU. Drop us a line at and we'll send you some info.
